Profile

Designed for a professional couple on a narrow, sloped site, the three-level house creates outdoor spaces that extend the living and private spaces into the site. The Lower level is composed of the entry, garage, wine room, and guest suite. The Main level captures the Public living spaces, kitchen, dining, powder room, and laundry. This level extends to a terrace to the south and outdoor living/dining on the north carved into the site. The Private spaces of the upper level includes the primary suite on the west, including an office on the south end, Primary suite, and exercise space on the north end, which is connected to an outdoor room by a floating bridge. Future Children’s bedroom suites occupy the Upper level to the east. All three levels are connected by a central stair that is shrouded by a digitally fabricated, Cor Ten sheet steel railing that simulates a “Voronoi Tessellation Algorithm” as a metaphor for the owner’s high tech business identity.

The material composition is Fiber cement panels on the lower and upper levels and natural cedar siding on the main level. Also, polished mirrored stainless-steel panels animate the second level of the two-story living room, reflecting the trees and sky. The Fiber cement panels and natural cedar continue on the interior to express the indoor/outdoor spatial continuity.
